In October there are no miracles, reads the title of a Peruvian novel. However, the long lines I've seen this month at the embassies of different countries in Lima appear to show that thousands of professionals still believe the opposite, namely that the miracles of scholarships for study abroad are, for example. If one takes account of money that a student has just graduated to invest in translating papers - to aspire for a college graduate of any non-English speaking country - or in approved securities and titrated only - just postulated to Chile, Mexico or Spain - in buying the plane ticket (Usually not included in the grant) and leave a large cash deposit in a national account to ensure the return home, then one comes with surprise that we need a couple of years have been working and saving to even think in applying for a scholarship. But that is not the case. And also the little money we need a good dose of Vitamin C, ie 'conections', not forgetting, of course, in applying for the right career, one that finished after the grant "progress and development can provide the country. " And at this point seems to be ruled out race for Literature.
However, many poets and writers are exiled Peruvian miracle and voluntarily. It is true that many of the great figures of Peruvian letters had to live in exile (César Vallejo, Manuel Scorza, etc.), And others voluntarily chose that option (Julio Ramón Ribeyro, Jorge Eielson, etc.), But all they could give great results, that addition did not come from the fact of being in "the stranger", but had a universal value and a weight itself.
I do not believe in miracles, but I have faith that our poets and writers gone back to Peru, not necessarily in person but at least in published books, or in strips of manuscripts for publication.
